Spring!!

It's been sunny for at least 2 days in a row!
This must surely signal the start of summer... right? Not so fast, I hear you say.

DO YOU FEEL LIKE THIS?

However, the bright weather has put a smile on people's faces, and all of a sudden the scent of optimism is in the air!

To me this is really the best time for new starts; forget New Years' with it's darkness and cold, now we've got summer to look forward to and an excuse to get out and about. And it's so important that we do (I say, sitting in the clinic on a bright day, typing). The benefits of getting outside can't be underestimated. Firstly we get to fill our lungs with some much-needed fresh air, not that recycled air-conditioned stuff.

The closer to a natural environment we live in, the healthier our bodies are. This goes for food, activity, surroundings, you name it.  If this sounds intriguing to you, then check out Primal Blueprint, you'll love it.

Then we have Vitamin D, the "sunshine vitamin". It not only lifts our mood and helps fight depression, it also helps with calcium absorption, making our bones stronger - important for all of us, but especially elderly people who are more prone to fractures if they fall. Vitamin D activates killer T cells in our body, which fight off infection and make our immune systems strong.

So the message is get out and enjoy the sunshine! It'll do you more good than you think, and you can relax knowing you've taken a really significant health step today.
